License Agreement — HexEdit

HexEdit is free software by sole proprietor Oleksandr Pertsov, Ukraine (the “Licensor”). By installing or using the software you accept the terms below. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.

1. License

The Licensor grants you a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to use HexEdit on any number of your computers, including for commercial purposes.

2. Permitted

Using the software, copying the installer and passing it on to others unmodified and free of charge, keeping the author information intact.

3. Prohibited

• selling the software or access to it;
• modifying, decompiling or disassembling it, except where expressly permitted by law;
• removing the author information;
• using the software for unlawful activities, including unauthorized interference with the property of others and falsification of data prohibited by law.

4. Purpose and risks

The software is a professional tool for working with binary files, including copies (dumps) of the contents of memory chips of electronic control units. Editing such data may render the equipment it is written to inoperable. You make your own decisions about changes, are responsible for your actions and must keep backup copies of the original data.

5. No warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Licensor is not liable for any damages, data loss or damage to equipment related to the use of the software.

6. Updates and data

The software checks for a new version once a day; the check can be turned off: “Help → Check for updates automatically”. What data this involves is described in the Privacy Policy (“Help → Privacy”).
